loyal_cube | ✪ Lost Puppy! What is this? ✪ [Accidental Video]

[The video feed starts off dark with some growling noises followed by some sniffing. The screen clears up and shows a purple canine as Cube pulls his snout away from the screen. He cocks his head, looking curiously at the communicator. One of his ears flops to the side for a moment as he stares.

Suddenly, his eyes light up as his ears spring at a thought in his mind. The screen goes dark again as Cube picks up the communicator in his mouth. The sound of panting and quick paw steps can be heard for a few moments before he pulls away. Upside down, Shinji's face looms into the screen, looking down at the device now in his hand.]

What the hell's this?

[Shinji looks over the communicator for a moment]

This isn't mine

...

What, did you steal this?!

[The communicator flips around to show Cube's paws and the floor as Shinji looks at it some more. Turning it back around, he shrugs.]

Well, whatever sap lost this probably doesn't deserve it, anyhow... you can have it as a chew toy, boy.

[The communicator hits the floor and the purple pup runs after it, happily thinking it's a game of fetch now, returning it to Shinji as he grumbles.]

Look, it's not mine... I don't even want one, hell if I'm keeping two. You keep it.

["Keep it? Well, I guess so. It's kind of fun, just like Master's." Cube spends the rest of the video feed staring at the communicator, waiting for it do something interesting so he can play with it.]

Oh I hope she'll be all right. I can't even imagine what's happened since I left...I don't know how to get back, I don't even know how I got here. And it's been ages already! [He's getting more and more upset.] It's just not fair. I did what Earth asked, and I ended up whisked away to some other planet! I haven't any idea whose sphere it is or anything, and they won't even talk to me. It's just awful!

[Cube might actually be of more help, if he could remember anything.

"Mr. Leo, It's alright. It will be ok. I do not think this is Earth's doing.

Who won't talk to you?"]

[He doesn't know about the time difference or the chips, so this is all doubly confusing. He tries to calm down and answers the question.]

Whoever is in charge of this sphere. [And then, remembering that he's talking to a mortal creature:] Do you know of them? The luminaries?

[Cube knows all that, he just doesn't remember.... but he will.

"This Sphere? Do you mean, this world? I heard they are Scientists...

I'm sorry, I'm afraid I don't know what those are. Will you please tell me?"]

[Doggy head shake as he thinks about how to explain.] That's a planet. I've heard that this one is called Fortuna, but they won't speak to me either.

The sphere is the whole lot of it, you see. All of the planets and things that orbit the star. And a luminary is the denizen of that star. I just don't know who owns this one.

[Cube's eyes widen... oh god this is sounding familiar too. Why is everyone breaking his brain today?

"I... I'm not sure. What Mr. Leo is saying sounds familiar... but I don't know why. I feel I should know but I ... I can't think of it.

Have we met before?]

[He tilts his head in confusion. What's with this guy?] You might have seen them before. They look a bit like bright people, I think. It's hard to explain. I don't think we've met...though it is difficult to tell over these television things. But I think I would remember you.

[He looks confused and upset... resting his snout between his paws.

"I think I may have forgotten things... Reisen-san says I might have amnesia. What is it that Mr. Leo needs to speak about with the luminaries?"]

[He gives a sympathetic whine.] That happened to me too, but I was able to remember things later on. Maybe you will too.

I need to speak with them because they ought to know what's going on. I thought they might tell me why I was brought here, but I haven't heard anything. [He gives a low growl, getting upset again.] They're probably trying to keep me from finding the Zoi. It's underhanded. I don't know how they haven't been caught yet!

["It happened to you to....? I hope I remember too! Thank you.

What will happen if you don't find the Zoi? Maybe I can help you, Mr. Leo?"
He cocks his head a little. If someone was in trouble he had to help somehow, specially if it was the only other dog he knew.]

[He hesitates a bit before answering - he's not sure he can explain properly, or if it's even appropriate to tell. But he can't really see much harm in it.]

If I don't find it, I'm going to die as a dog, and I'll never be able to go home. [A mournful doggy sigh, and he shakes his head sadly.] No...thank you, but there's no way you can help unless you can send me back to Earth. That's where the Zoi is, so it won't do me much good to be stuck here instead.

[Cube cocks his head.

"Die... as a dog? Is Mr. Leo not... a dog?"]

No, I am just a dog now. But I wasn't before.

["Were you a person?

How...? Are you magical?" Asks the demon dog who forgot he is a demon]

[Ironically, he could probably tell him that if they met in person. Demon dogs just don't smell the same, after all.]

I wasn't a person, exactly. And I don't think it's quite like magic either.

[A little uncomfortable telling this, because it reminds him of just how far he's fallen.]

In another life, I was once a luminary. My name was Sirius, and my star was such.

["You.... " Something pinging Cube to respect this dog with upmost importance but... it seems a bit silly if he though about it.

"That makes sense... I don't know what magic could do that..." Or... did he? Random words came to him but none of them made sense.

"I know you said I probably can't help you, but I help my Master at the Bar. if I hear anything... anything at all about getting away from this place... I'll tell you."]

[It wouldn't seem nearly so silly if he could look him in the eyes. Dog or not, the spirit is there.]

I know the power that can do that and more, and I wouldn't call it magic. But it might be similar. I can't think how to describe it.

[He's convinced there's nothing anyone can do, but he appreciates the thought And it also gives him an idea.] Thank you for that. Where is the Bar? I'd rather talk like that than trying to use this thing.

["The bar...? It's on the end of Bonito Drive, off of Ingles Trail. Do you wish to meet somewhere else...?" He wasn't sure why, but he could picture the city in his mind, even places he hasn't been.]
