✪ Notes! A Look into the past! ✪ [Text]

I'm not sure if it's of any interest to anyone but I've come across some interesting notes left here, at the Spero Hospital. Quite a few all speak of the Atropos virus. What's interesting is these notes label it as "incurable." The notes continue to list symptoms but the cause is always pointed towards Discedo, stating that they believe the fish and other imports from Discedo carried the virus but it's uncertain.

It sounds as though this world has dealt with this virus for some time. I'm beginning to wonder what exactly went on and if this sparked a conflict between Discedo and the rest of Fortuna.

Has anyone else found interesting information like this as well? I know I've missed a bit but it might be within our best interests to document everything all together, somehow.

I also have a request for those in Spero. I'm in need of a blood donors. I'm looking for someone to donate as soon as possible, but also any one else I may call on for later, in case of an emergency, would also be also appreciated.

Aside form that, should anyone in Spero need medical attention, please contact me.

Unfortunately, I can only go my memory for such as most of the documentations were burned when the Library caught fire. However, I do believe that Discedo was attacked via an air attack at some point. I-I have no solid proof of this aside from the way some the buildings seem to have been destroyed rather then abandoned. I recall seeing it with my own eyes in a strange occurrence earlier this year, but I'm the only one who saw it, to my knowledge.

Ah, there was also someone... [Whom you look very much like, actually] ...who could communicate with the spirits and stated many of them seemed to speak of illness and he believed the majority of Discedo had passed on from illness. T-That's why I believe it may have been a combination of both illness and war.

If Discedo did find a vaccine it may have been at the end, when most of it's citizens had already died out. Many things can be speculated but I wonder how the scientists came to have the vaccine. Perhaps they're the group who made it and have kept it all this time or it's a possibility they simply took the vaccine from another time or place with their technology. They've taken many of us from different worlds at different time periods, so it's not impossible they could have stolen the vaccine from another realm.

[Loki does not respect Tatsumi. He doesn't actually particularly like him, either, for that matter. Tatsumi is just.. special.]

If it was some sort of failure on the scientist's part, it would explain their motivation to rebuild and repopulate the city with new people. A way to start over and wipe the slate clean, perhaps.

[... a pause.]

They could communicate with spirits? Were they some type of medium or necromancer? A shaman, perhaps?

[Somehow that makes me feel all warm inside! Special is good.]

Ah, I hadn't considered that! That does make sense, specially if they had the means of using the machine to pull whatever they needed to do so!

However, that doesn't explain why they haven't given us the proper materials to rebuild. Then again, I suppose something could have gone wrong along the way...

Yes, he could. I recall him stating he was an exorcist, I believe. Still, he seemed very fond of the spirits he communicated with, if my memory serves me well.

Perhaps they are of the sort that believes that it is only through proper adversity that any civilization can truly flourish.

[And Loki laughs a little and sounds more than a little amused.] And exorcist? You don't say.

Ah, nothing much~ I just don't tend to hear about many others practicing the art like me, these days.

It seems like spiritual sensitivity in general is quickly becoming something of the past.

Is that so? It would have been nice if he were still about but perhaps I'm speaking too soon. People tend to com and go frequently here. Who knows? Maybe he'll return someday soon.

[Cube nods. He can't help but feel some small connection to Loki's words, even if his profession is quite different.]

I believe you're correct. Though, perhaps it's just me, but sometimes I feel the same about magic. The future worlds I've heard of and have lived in seem to lack not sensitivity in many things.

If he does, you'll have to introduce him to me. I'm curious to see how my methods compare to others.

In my experience, humanity has a tendency to fear and dismiss that which they can't understand. Science is more reassuring to most, because it is something they can quantify and control to a certain extent. Take the scientists here, as an example:

If they were not called scientists and were instead called mages, or warlocks, or even gods, would the people here be quite so quick to accept the method with which they arrived here?

And for that matter, why would the scientists feel he need to block our own abilities? Because they are not capable of them themselves?

There is so much these days that can be proven, that belief as a whole is fading into nonexistance. After all, why should you have to believe, when you can know?

I believe they lock the abilities because they can't control them and fear them, to an extent. However, I have always wondered the true reason myself. I like to believe they aren't malevolent and try to be helpful to us when they can. In a way, we're all stuck here.

I'm somehow reminded of a few here who have questioned my magic. I can not explain to them how it works except that it does. In response they want to know the "trick," as if it were only an illusion. I suppose science is more practical. That's why the Celestials from where I come from used it.

But science can't explain everything, can it? Just as it can not fix or cure all things that present themselves. Science and technology are well in their own respects but... so is so much else.

I guess I fear a world without magic. Then again, I suppose others fear the opposite...

Fear is a constant thing, no matter the circumstances. It has been that way since the beginning of time, and will continue to be until the end.

It's true but it doesn't make it any easier to deal with.

Because all the people I've ever met before seem to think things will just happen for them if they sit around and wish for them hard enough.

And that only works sometimes.

I can't sit around and wait. If I did not do things for myself and worked hard for as long as I have, I never would be where I am today. I'd probably still be polishing shoes, emptying bedpans, or something worse.

Wishing gives hope and sometimes that's what people need to do things for themselves.

Or sometimes it's exactly what they need to do nothing at all.
